PDF Viewer Problems with Google Chrome
Google Chrome's default PDF Viewer has a prolem displaying some types of PDF Files. The latest update to Google Chrome does not allow you to change from the default viewer. But it can be done by using the Exensions function.
Got to settings and click on the extension tab. Then scroll to the bottom of the page and click on "Get More Extensions". Then do a search for PDF Viewers by typing in PDF Viewer in the search box. You will be given a choice of a number of PDF progams to choose from. The one that seems to work best is "PDF JS". Click on it and add it to Google Chrome. It will automatically be enabled when you add it and become your default PDF Viewer. That's all there is to it. So far, we haven't found any PDF files that it can't read and it is much better than the default viewer that comes with Google Chrome.
Membership. I know we talk about it a lot but the reality of it is quite simple. We need a continuous input of new members to keep VFW going. Take a good look around you when you attend your next meeting. We are an aging group of Veterans, especially overseas, in the expat community. Most of us are in our 60s and 70s. We are what's left of the Vietnam era. What we need is fresh blood. We need a new look, new outlook, with fresh minds and ideas. What we need are the Sand Soldiers. We need to appeal to those who fought in Iraq and Afghanistan along with those who fought in Bosnia. Most of us have children and grandchildren who have served and continue to serve in our Armed Forces. It's up to all of us to get with them and explain the importance of being a member of the VFW. It is our strength, in numbers, that allows us to, effectively, lobby Congress to strengthen and preserve the benefits that we have earned.
The old saying still holds true, "There is strength in numbers!", and we are, ever so slowly, losing that battle. So we need your help in getting our youth to join us and fight for what we have earned. It's a battle that will take all of us if we are to win. If we just sit by and do nothing then this organization, the VFW, will slowly die due to attrition. So talk to your kids and your grandchildren and get them to join us.
